Call for Papers: Alternative Rites. Regional Chant Traditions in Early Medieval Latin Europe

The SCRIBEMUS team invites proposals for the international conference Alternative Rites. Regional Chant Traditions in Early Medieval Latin Europe, dedicated to the study of regional liturgical chant traditions and the role of music writing in their transmission and preservation. We welcome papers on non-Gregorian repertories, notation, liturgy, palaeography, codicology, digital approaches, and related topics. The conference will be held at the Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage in Cremona on 3rd and 4th of December 2026 in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and remote online presentation and attendance.
